Our History

For over eighty years, our family’s story has been defined by a simple commitment: helping people craft spaces they love to live in.

It began in 1945, when First Lt. Frank P. Whitcomb returned home from World War II with a vision for American craftsmanship. By 1946, he co-founded the Whitco Venetian Blind Company—Harrisburg, Pennsylvania's very first blind factory—delivering custom window coverings across the state. By 1949, Whitco products were available in all Sears department stores across Pennsylvania.

As the decades unfolded, Frank’s passion expanded across Central Pennsylvania into complete home interiors. In 1958, he renamed the business Whitco Draperies and opened a 20,000 sq ft storefront on Rt. 22 in Harrisburg, Pa. The business continued to expand in 1968 with the launch of Whitco Carpets across York and Harrisburg. By 1970, the family opened the iconic Whitco flagship store on Rt. 39 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, expanding their storefront and warehouse footprint to introduce full home furniture alongside their existing drapery and flooring lines across all locations.

That legacy carried deep into the second generation. Following Frank’s passing in 1982, his children stepped forward to steward the business, with Frank D. Whitcomb Jr. and siblings rebranding the flagship store to Whitco Home Furnishings in 1986.

In 2025, a new chapter began in Pennsylvania as Whitco Home Furnishings officially closed its doors under Frank D. Whitcomb Jr. The family leased the flagship building on Rt. 39 to David’s Interiors, transitioning operations to focus on the flooring trade under the name Whitco Flooring as a sub-division within David’s Interiors.

In 2026, the third generation officially stepped forward. Ryan J. Stayton—grandson of Frank P. Whitcomb—alongside his wife Francisca, launched Most High Goods based out of Grand Junction, Colorado.
